I delivered a soundscaping tutorial workshop for students of the Global Media Management module 'Critical Media Practices'. Shaping the session with an introduction to climate change history, my reading list and prompts related to themes around timelines, places and technologies we 'hear' as part of the landscape of change.

Code First Girls Coding Assistant Instructor in Web Development

I supported lead instructors and led 2 classes for this 8-week online class, Introduction to Web Development. We taught the fundamentals of web development to students who were largely new to coding. At the end of the course, the students were able to build, deploy and maintain their own website. (April 12, 2023 → May 31, 2023)

I supported lead instructors and led 2 classes for this 8-week online class, Introduction to Data & SQL. We taught the fundamentals of data and SQL to students who were largely new to coding. Visiting Lecturer: Games and Playful Narratives for MA Global Media Management at WSA, University of Southampton

For the Spring term, Francis Gene-Rowe and I co-led the Games and Playful Narratives strand for the MA module Global Media 2: Industries and Technologies. As a seminar tutor, I led the weekly creative and practical workshops – following Francis' theory sessions – and in these, the student groups created their own digital or paper-based games, through narrative, character, and game design and mechanics. They presented their in-progress and final games for their formative and summative assessments. (March 6, 2023 → June 19, 2023)

Storytelling Interconnectedness: Digital Storymapping Workshop for Creative Direction for BA Fashion at London College of Fashion, UAL

I delivered a digital mapping workshop of Year 3 students' final project unit, focusing their activities on their current research interests for their course that 'sits across communication design and strategic innovation, embeded with insights, foresights and speculative methodologies' (lecturer Izzy Wharton).

Food Futures: Speculative Stories Workshop for BA Games with LSFRC at WInchester School of Art

I and three other co-directors of the London Science Fiction Research Community led a workshop around food themed game narratives. We each began with short presentations to introduce various ideas relating to food – I spoke about cultural heritage and climate change – before the students worked in teams to prototype games.

In their studio spaces, I gave 1-1 tutor sessions with students on the BFA Fine Art course across the undergraduate year groups. Arts Practices and Climate Justice Talk at Chelsea College of Arts, UAL

I delivered an introductory overview of the potential of arts practices when aligned with climate justice to Year 3 BA Fine Art students. I outlined theory and case studies across arts, activism and environmental science and history. This was a new area for some students, and there was a further discussion moment to encourage engagement through their own practices and experiences

Climate: Articulated Knowledges and Speculative Stories Talk for MA Illustration: Authorial Practice at University of Falmouth

I shared recent curatorial projects as Worm: art + ecology, with research on knowledge systems and sinophone speculative fiction relating to climate change. I highlighted the power structures that determine our climate narratives, and confronts how issues of injustice permeate from the colonial history of climate change. 'What constitutes trusted knowledge? Who is in control of producing and sharing information? How does this information benefit or compromise marginalised groups?'

Futures of Waste: Articulated Knowledges and Speculative Stories Lecture for AA x ICA

For Architectural Association and ICA's Speculative Studies: Art and Ecology strand for postgraduates, I shared recent research and curatorial projects on knowledge systems, climate speculative fiction and the colonial history of climate change. In the second part of the session, I led an exploration into some sinophone speculative fiction that discuss these issues. Focusing on waste, from e-waste management to incinerator activism, the seminar expanded on the actors, processes and challenges of globalised consumerism and the industry of waste. We read Hao Jingfang’s short science fiction story ‘Folding Beijing’, and discussed the social and ecological impacts, and how stories can help frame justice on a global level.

Art, Poetry and the Environment Talk for CIEE Global Institute

For a second year undergraduate course called 'Nature and Culture in Transnational Perspective', I delivered a talk on the artistic response to climate change through my own creative practice and collaborations. Co-speaker Awa Ndiaye shared her own poetry relating to the environment, and we shared a panel discussion for students to ask more about our research themes and methodolgies to engage wider audiences.

For the Reading the Contemporary seminar series with University of Kent in partnership with the ICA in London, I delivered a talk with reading materials that introduced the key concepts of environmental and climate justice from a decolonial perspective, building on Guha and Martinez-Alier (1997) with contemporary examples and literature, including my creative projects.
