I was commissioned to adapt my digital collage series and accompanying essay (‘States of Hydration’)[] into a video essay and delivered a pre-recorded presentation for the Island to Island Symposium held at Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, University of East Anglia online and in Norwich.

For the 9 month peer-to-peer learning journey – addressing systemic challenges through life-sustaining neighbourhoods, health, nature, dignity, and justice – I gave a talk on my creative practice and what it means to be aligned to climate justice.

Waterscapes on Land video exhibited at 'Storm Warning: what does climate change mean for coastal communities?' at Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, Penzance

Waterscapes On Land (2023) is also on view in Cornwall. The Storm Warning exhibition is a collaborative two venue project in partnership with Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, Penzance, which seeks to raise awareness of the impact of the climate crisis on coastal communities in South Essex and Cornwall. ESEA Artists Futures Town Hall: Collectively imagining new landscapes for East and Southeast Asian [ESEA] artists in the UK and beyond

The ESEA Artists’ Futures research project arose from artists’ intervention and whistleblowing in 2020 about the systemic failures in the visual arts, in particular the failures of the ESEA visual arts landscape. The Town Hall assembled ESEA arts workers in Sheffield to discuss and vote on 8 motions to be published in a report to the arts sector reflecting on institutional racism and alternative. I led the subgroup moderation for the motion on 'organising.'

'Storytelling Interconnectedness: geolocating our climate histories and speculative stories as data in virtual and real landscapes' now in the publication Futuring Waters: A Speculative Manifesto from and for the Waters of Eleusina

My essay reflects on my workshop series 'Storytelling Interconnectedness' (2022-2023) that explores speculative climate timelines through digital mapping. I delivered workshop iterations for Futuring Waters by Jenny Marketou between 15-17th June 2023 as part of the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture in Elefsina, Greece.

Waterscapes On Land (2023) is my two-part project that is newly commissioned by Focal Point Gallery (Southend-on-Sea, UK), in partnership with the Catchment to Coast project. Led by Southend City Council, it is one of 25 projects within the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP). (September 30, 2023 → January 6, 2024)

BRAID (Bridging Responsible AI Divides) Launch Conference at BBC’s London Broadcasting House

As an artist and independent researcher, I was invited by AI policy researcher Bóxī Wú to join the launch of BRAID, a 'UK-wide programme dedicated to integrating Arts and Humanities research more fully into the Responsible AI ecosystem.' BRAID's aim is also to bridge the divides between academic, industry, policy and regulatory work on responsible AI.

Exploring tricky decision making scenarios for freelance art workers, such as negotiating fees, artistic vision and seeking aligned values with commission hosts, I created a digital narrative game 'Art Project Game: artistic labour' for participatory discussion prompting as my panel contribution.

I brought some insights on climate change topics, working with young people and games to help shape the prototyping of Ben Templeton / thoughtden's card game 'CRACT!' The game encourages young players to use critical thinking, collaboration and creativity to build on their climate action activities.

Waterscapes on Land (2023) on display across Southend-on-Sea High Street for Focal Point Gallery's annual Railway Bridge Commission

I created two digitally illustrated collage banners as a new temporary site-specific public artwork that communicates the local environmental activities taking place to mitigate flooding and coastal erosion. Over the summer, I worked with the Environment Agency’s Catchment to Coast Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP) project to visually and creatively map the nature-based solutions being used across Southend and Thurrock’s varied landscapes that are facing the impacts of the changing climate. ESEA FUTURES: Building Sustainable Infrastructures for our Collective Futures

I delivered two workshops for the ESEA Online Community Hub that mapped ESEA arts and culture in Britain. We looked at the different kinds of art practices (i.e. music, performing, visual arts, etc) across geographies and time. We intend to develop new narratives to educate ourselves and wider society about ESEA presence and histories in the UK to support long-term structural and social and cultural change.

I was selected for the Artagon Artist Development Residency at Maison Artagon in Vitry-aux-Loges in France. I spent two weeks there with French artists and researchers, improving my French and using the dedicated time to research into the history of computing and the cloud. (July 10, 2023 → July 23, 2023)

Diorama DIY! Workshop with Dr Verity Burke for 'Speculative Space of Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums' at the Science Museum, London

I co-delivered a workshop at the Science Museum with Dr Verity Burke about climate narratives, ecology and museum experiences through habitat dioramas. Our aim was to frame museum exhibition dioramas – historically framing colonial perspectives – as stimulating speculation or operating in speculative modes through decolonial tools. We intended for our artist and researcher participants to contemplate “What kind of landscape would climate change move you to journey into?”
